👨🍳 Instructions
Divide the ground chuck beef into 6 equal portions and gently shape them into patties slightly wider than the buns.
Season both sides of each patty generously with salt and black pepper just before cooking.
Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat until hot.
Place the patties on the heat and sear for 3 to 4 minutes until a deep brown crust forms.
Flip the patties, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each, and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until melted and cooked to desired doneness.
Lightly toast the burger buns on the skillet or grill.
Assemble the burgers by layering lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and the cheesy beef patty between the toasted buns.

⚠️ Common Mistakes
- ✕
Overworking the raw meat when forming patties, which leads to tough and dense burgers.
- ✕
Using a pan that is not hot enough, resulting in steamed meat instead of a delicious caramelized crust.
🔄 Variations
Bacon Mushroom Swiss Burger: Swap cheddar for Swiss cheese and top with sautéed mushrooms and crispy bacon.
Spicy Jalapeño Burger: Use pepper jack cheese and add sliced pickled jalapeños for a spicy kickoff.
🧊 Storage
- 📦
Store leftover cooked patties separately from buns and toppings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
💡 Chef Tips
Avoid pressing down on the beef patties with a spatula while cooking, as this squeezes out all the natural juices.
Season the meat right before it hits the pan to prevent salt from drawing moisture out early.
Use 80/20 ground chuck for the ideal fat content that guarantees maximum flavor and juiciness.
