⚠️ Common Mistakes
- ✕
Over-chopping: If you cut the fruit too small, it will lose its texture and turn into mush when mixed with the juice. Keep the chunks chunky!
- ✕
Not Chilling: This dish is best served very cold. If possible, chop the fruit and keep it in the fridge for 30 minutes before assembling.
🔄 Variations
Spicy Kick: Add a sprinkle of Tajín (chili-lime seasoning) to the top for an authentic Mexican street-food experience.
Herbal Note: A few leaves of fresh mint or basil add a lovely aromatic freshness that pairs well with the pineapple and mango.
🧊 Storage
- 📦
This is best enjoyed fresh. Once the fruit sits in the juice, it will begin to soften significantly. Store for no longer than 2–3 hours.
💡 Chef Tips
Seasonal Variety: Feel free to add whatever seasonal fruit you have on hand—papaya, strawberries, and melon work beautifully here.
Serving: For a more decadent touch, you can serve this with a scoop of coconut yogurt or a sprinkle of shredded coconut on top.
