β οΈ Common Mistakes
- β
Warm Soda: Pouring warm Sprite over ice forces massive carbonation release, leaving your drink flat and melting your ice structure immediately.
- β
Stirring Too Vigorously: Stirring with too much force will destroy all the refreshing bubbles from the soda. Keep it to a gentle swirl.
π Variations
Strawberry Limeade Twist: Add a squeeze of half a fresh lime to cut through the heavy sweetness of the Sprite and strawberry combo.
The Pink Gin Fizz: Turn this Valentine's style drink into an adult cocktail by splashing in 1.5 oz (45 ml) of pink or botanical gin.
π§ Storage
- π¦
Because soda goes flat rapidly, this drink must be constructed and served right away. Do not mix large batches ahead of time.
π‘ Chef Tips
Stuck to the Bottom? Thick strawberry puree can sit heavily at the bottom of the glass. Mix it with a tiny splash of warm water or juice beforehand to make it fluid enough to easily swirl up into the carbonated soda.
Muddling Alternative: If you don't have puree, simply throw 4 fresh strawberries and a teaspoon of sugar into the glass and smash them thoroughly using a muddler or wooden spoon before adding ice.
