β οΈ Common Mistakes
- β
Using Unripe Berries: Pale, sour strawberries won't yield enough natural sweetness or flavor, forcing you to over-sweeten with white sugar. Use bright red, ripe fruit.
π Variations
Strawberry Matcha Latte: Float 2 oz (60 ml) of whisked ceremonial matcha green tea over the milk layer for a beautiful tri-color cafe beverage.
Vegan Strawberry Milk: Substitute whole milk with extra-creamy barista oat milk or coconut milk for a completely plant-based version.
π§ Storage
- π¦
The strawberry syrup can be made in large batches and stored in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Once mixed with milk, consume within 24 hours.
π‘ Chef Tips
Let it Cool: Never pour cold milk over hot strawberry syrup, or the milk fat can separate and become grainy. Patience during the cooling step pays off!
The Marbling Effect: Use the back of your spoon to coat the inside walls of your glass with the thick compote before adding the milk to capture that picture-perfect aesthetic.
