β οΈ Common Mistakes
- β
Serving raw or unripe peaches that have not been cooked down, which can be too firm or acidic for a young infant's stomach.
- β
Leaving small pieces of peach skin in the puree, which can stick to the roof of a baby's mouth.
π Variations
Peach & Banana Mix: Blend half a ripe banana into the warm peach puree for a richer, creamier texture and extra sweetness.
Spiced Peach: Stir in a microscopic pinch of ground cinnamon for a warm flavor profile.
π§ Storage
- π¦
Fridge: Store the puree in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours.
- π¦
Freezer: Freeze in silicone baby food freezing trays for up to 1 month. Thaw thoroughly in the refrigerator before serving.
π‘ Chef Tips
To make peeling peaches effortless, score a small "X" on the bottom of each peach, dip them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then transfer them immediately to an ice bath; the skin will slide right off.
Always check the temperature of the puree carefully before feeding it to your baby.
β FAQ
Can I make peach puree without cooking the fruit? If your peaches are exceptionally ripe, soft, and juicy, you can blend them raw. However, cooking them slightly aids digestion and ensures uniform smoothness for younger babies.
Are peaches a common allergen? Peaches are generally considered low-allergen, but oral allergy syndrome can occasionally occur in sensitive individuals. Watch closely during the first introduction.
How do I store leftovers safely? Always scoop out a separate portion into a feeding bowl. If your baby's spoon touches the main storage container, discard any remaining portions to prevent bacterial contamination.
