By the QuiteRecipes team (Jamy & Kaïna) | Food Service Professional, Early Childhood Expert & Parents
Cool down with this vibrant, dairy-free Mixed Berry 'Nice Cream.' Made with a frozen banana base and a blend of antioxidant-rich berries, this refreshing dessert is naturally sweet, creamy, and ready in minutes.
The quintessential healthy summer dessert, and we are not arguing. Ripe berries folded into a creamy base freeze into an ice cream that tastes like a fruit stand. No churning marathon, no weird ingredients, just cold berry goodness.
🥄 Ingredients
- 🫗 3 ripe bananas, chopped and frozen (at least 12 hours)
- 🫗 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc.)
- 🫗 Agave syrup (to taste)
- 🫗 Extra berries (for garnish)

👨🍳 Instructions
**Prep the Base:** Take your frozen banana chunks and berries out of the freezer. Let them sit for 2–3 minutes to soften slightly—this makes blending much easier and results in a creamier texture.
**Process:** Place the banana chunks and berries into your food processor or high-speed blender.
**Pulse:** Pulse in short bursts. Stop frequently to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula to ensure all the fruit is incorporated.
**Adjust:** Once the mixture is thick and creamy, taste it. Drizzle in agave syrup if you prefer it sweeter and pulse once more to combine.
**Serve:** Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency. For a firmer, "scoopable" ice cream, transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1–2 hours.
**Garnish:** Top with fresh berries before serving for a pop of color and texture.

⚠️ Common Mistakes
- ✕
Not Cleaning the Blades: Because you are working with frozen fruit, the mixture will be very thick. If you don't stop to scrape down the sides, you might burn out your blender motor. Always keep a spatula handy!
- ✕
Over-sweetening: Since the bananas and berries are naturally high in sugar, you might not need any added agave. Always taste your mixture before adding extra sweetener.
🔄 Variations
Creamy Indulgence: Add 1/4 cup of full-fat coconut milk to the blender for a richer, more "gourmet" ice cream mouthfeel.
Herb Infusion: Blend in a few fresh basil or mint leaves for an unexpectedly refreshing and sophisticated flavor profile.
🧊 Storage
- 📦
Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week. If it freezes solid, let it sit on the counter for 10 minutes before scooping.
💡 Chef Tips
Fruit Ratios: If you prefer a more "tart" ice cream, increase the ratio of blackberries and raspberries. If you prefer a "sweeter" ice cream, use more strawberries and blueberries.
Texture Tip: If the mixture is not becoming creamy and looks a bit crumbly, add 1 tablespoon of plant-based milk or water to help the blades catch the fruit.
