👨🍳 Instructions
Let the frozen acai puree thaw for 2-3 minutes, then break it into chunks.
Add the acai, frozen banana, milk and whey protein to a high-speed blender.
Blend until completely smooth and thick, scraping down the sides as needed. It should have a soft-serve consistency.
Pour the acai base into a chilled bowl.
Arrange the granola, sliced strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter drizzle, chia seeds and shredded coconut on top.
Serve immediately with a spoon before it melts.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
- ✕
Adding too much milk, which turns the bowl into a thin smoothie you cannot eat with a spoon.
- ✕
Using room-temperature fruit, which melts the acai and makes it watery.
- ✕
Over-blending, which heats the mixture and thins the bowl out.
🔄 Variations
Swap peanut butter for almond butter or a hazelnut-cocoa spread.
Use chocolate whey and add cocoa powder for a chocolate acai bowl.
Top with kiwi, mango or granola clusters for a change of texture.
🧊 Storage
- 📦
Acai bowls are best eaten immediately while thick and cold.
- 📦
Freeze the leftover base in ice cube trays and re-blend with a splash of milk the next morning.
💡 Chef Tips
Tip 1: Use frozen fruit and only a little liquid to keep the bowl spoonable-thick instead of runny.
Tip 2: Chill the bowl in the freezer for 5 minutes so the acai base stays thick while you assemble.
Tip 3: Warm the peanut butter for 10 seconds so it drizzles beautifully over the top.
Tip 4: Add the whey after the fruit is blended smooth to avoid powder clumps.
