π¨βπ³ Instructions
Roll the oranges firmly against your countertop with the palm of your hand for 10 seconds to loosen the internal juices.
Slice each orange cleanly in half horizontally.
Using a manual or electric citrus juicer, press and rotate each half firmly to extract all the fresh liquid and pulp.
Strain through a medium-mesh sieve if you prefer a smoother texture, or leave the natural pulp in for extra fiber.
Pour the fresh juice into a chilled serving glass.
Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim and drink immediately.

β οΈ Common Mistakes
- β
Pressing the White Pith: Juicing too aggressively down into the white layer (pith) of the orange peel will introduce a sharp, bitter taste to your sweet juice.
- β
Letting It Sit Too Long: Freshly squeezed unpasteurized juice oxidizes quickly. Drink it within a few hours to catch the peak enzyme activity and natural sweetness.
π Variations
Orange Mimosa Mocktail: Fill half a flute glass with your fresh juice and top it off with 4 oz (120 ml) of chilled sparkling white grape juice or alcohol-free champagne.
Citrus Sunrise Blast: Add 0.5 oz (15 ml) of fresh lime juice and a tiny pinch of sea salt to create an incredibly refreshing, electrolyte-packed morning booster.
π§ Storage
- π¦
Keep any leftover juice in a tightly sealed glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Give it a vigorous shake before pouring as the pulp will naturally separate.
π‘ Chef Tips
The Best Varieties: Valencia oranges are widely considered the gold standard for juicing because they are incredibly sweet and lack seeds. Navel oranges are excellent too but should be consumed immediately after juicing as they develop a bitter compound called limonin over time.
Temperature Control: Warm oranges yield significantly more juice than cold ones. If you keep your fruit in the fridge, microwave them for 10-15 seconds before slicing to maximize your yield!
