⚠️ Common Mistakes
- ✕
Buying Alcoholic Liqueur: Be careful in the liquor or syrup aisle—make sure you buy *Blue Curaçao Syrup* (which is zero-proof and orange-flavored) instead of Blue Curaçao Liqueur (which contains triple sec alcohol).
🔄 Variations
Frozen Blue Lagoon: Blend all ingredients together with a cup of crushed ice to create a stunning frozen slushy cocktail perfect for hot pool days.
Classic Blue Lagoon Cocktail: Add 1.5 oz (45 ml) of premium vodka into the syrup mixture before topping with soda for the adult classic version.
🧊 Storage
- 📦
Serve immediately upon mixing to retain the refreshing carbonation of the club soda. The blue syrup bottle itself does not require refrigeration and can be kept in a cool pantry.
💡 Chef Tips
The Perfect Hue: For a true crystal-clear ocean aesthetic, use plain club soda rather than ginger ale or tonic water, which can add a yellowish tint and muddy the electric blue color.
Tartness Adjustments: If you choose to use Sprite instead of club soda, skip the 1 oz of simple syrup entirely to keep the beverage from becoming cloyingly sweet.
